Hello All and a Happy New Year to you.
I hope 2008 is a great year for you..

First of all I am sorry I have not been in touch as much as usual.
As some of you know my girlfriend Susan, MM3OYB, has been in hospital in Dundee since
the beginning of November. This has taken up a lot of my time. She is now on the mend
and I hope she will be home soon.

There is a fair cluster of APRS UiView stations in the area now. I am glad to say I now have the Kenwood TM-D700 working with UiView now. DSTAR. Anyone in the group with Digital Voice equipment? If so please talk to me on D.V. 145.4375 MHz. I really need to know more about this method of communication. Any experts out there? There are tests with the Military planned for 2008. Let me know if you have a 'Notice of Variation' to your licence for 5MHz and you are interested in taking part. If we do not make an effort we will not be included. I hope to arrange a demonstration of PSK31. This seems to be a digital mode that can work with very low signal strengths. Another use for 5MHz ??

Remember we now have a group Crimping tool for the Anderson Powerpoles. Already been used by members.
Two new members Geoff 2M0AGS and Bernie GM4WZG. Welcome to you both.
Past member rejoining, Mike GM0MMN, who is also undertaking the task of treasurer/secretary. Thank you Mike.
Bear in mind that I am planning an 'Alternative Power Evening' where you are invited to come on air without using the mains supply. This includes the house lighting! Give this project some thought.
That is all for now. Do keep in touch.
Best regards and again all the best for 2008.
Jim Burke
